K&K Pure Preamp

The K&K Pure Preamp is the compact belt-clip preamp the Pure pickup line was built around. It is a simple, very quiet 1/4" preamp with gain and three-band EQ, made for an acoustic guitar and equally usable with other instruments. Handcrafted in the USA, it gives a high-impedance pickup a proper buffer and enough level to drive an amp, a pedalboard, or a mixer channel without adding hiss or the thin, pinched tone of a mismatched input.

There is no XLR and no phase switch on this model. Those live on the Pure XLR Preamp. This is the straightforward stage and studio front end: input, output, tone, and gain.

What it does

• Internal gain trimmer runs from half the input level (0.5×) up to 10×, so a Pure Mini, another piezo, or a passive magnetic pickup can be matched to the rest of the rig instead of living with a fixed boost.
• Three-band EQ shaped for acoustic guitar: bass at 100 Hz ±20 dB, a super-wide mid at 1.5 kHz ±20 dB, and treble at 10 kHz ±16 dB. The wide mid is the control most players reach for first with a Pure Mini, to ease the edge without scooping the body of the tone.
• Two 1/4" jacks on the rear, input and output. Unplugging the output disconnects the battery, so there is no separate power switch to forget.
• Battery life is about 180 hours on a 9-volt, at under 1 mA draw.
