What's the Difference (A Furch Explainer)?

We get this question a lot about the Furch Deluxe and Performance models. The good news is it's a simple answer. First, though, a keen eye may have noticed the labels in both of the guitars are the same- that's part of the point. The differences don't lie in the appearance or quality, so you wouldn't be able to tell them apart looking at them from the front. Each of the models in a color series carries the same grade of wood and appointments. They have the same finish as well.

The differences are that the Deluxe models do not have factory installed electronics and do have a player soundport for projecting sound towards the player. Whereas the Performance models do have factory installed electronics (LR Baggs) and do not have soundports. That's it, that's the difference.

As you climb the color model ladder, there are more differences- between Green and Yellow, or Yellow and Red, for example. The quality of wood increases, from AA to AAA, the appointments become clear, abalone rosettes for instance, and the level of electronics goes up (Stage Pro Element in Green and Stage Pro Anthem in Yellow).

So, deciding between a Deluxe and Performance model is a matter of applying what function the instrument will provide to you. If you are a performer and plug in, there's a pretty obvious connection with the naming convention. But, if you're a home player and plug in, you could go either way. You could go with the Deluxe for the soundport when you're not plugged in and add your pickup of choice for when you do- or just go for one that's ready out of the case for plugging in. If you don't plug in, or prefer to externally mic your guitars, then you save a few hundred dollars by going with the Deluxe.
