Built in the 50 Series—Lowden’s pinnacle range reserved exclusively for the finest Master Grade tonewoods—this cutaway mid-sized F body delivers exceptional tonal balance, dynamic response, and visual drama.

Tonewoods

The Master Grade Sinker Redwood top comes from old-growth logs reclaimed after decades (or longer) submerged in riverbeds. The long immersion densifies the wood, yielding a warm, fast-responding voice in the cedar family while adding headroom, complexity, and a distinctive blooming sustain. Notes open with richness and overtone bloom that reward both delicate fingerstyle and more assertive playing.

Paired with Master Grade Cocobolo back and sides (Dalbergia retusa), the guitar gains depth, piano-like fundamentals, and abundant harmonic complexity. Cocobolo is prized for its dense, rosewood-like character—rich lows, articulate mids, and shimmering highs—along with spectacular figure that often runs from deep reds and oranges through black streaks. The combination produces the classic Lowden signature: full, warm, dynamically responsive, and richly overtoned, with excellent note separation and projection.

Body & Playability

The F body sits in the versatile middle of Lowden’s range. It balances focused projection and clear mids with present but controlled bass, making it equally at home for fingerstyle, melodic accompaniment, and rhythm work. The Venetian-style cutaway opens the upper register for lead and modern fingerstyle passages without sacrificing the body’s tonal integrity.

Typical specifications include:

Scale length: 25.6" (650 mm)

Nut width: 1.75" (45 mm)

Neck: 5-piece mahogany/rosewood, GL Standard profile

Fingerboard: Ebony

Bridge: Rosewood

Tuners: Gotoh Gold 510 with ebony buttons

Bracing: Lowden’s signature Dolphin bracing

Finish: Hand-rubbed natural satin

Handcrafted in Northern Ireland with the meticulous attention to voicing and detail that defines Lowden, the F-50C in Sinker Redwood and Cocobolo is an heirloom-quality instrument for players seeking maximum tonal nuance, comfort, and beauty.
