It sits just stiffer than a celluloid heavy and short of an extra heavy, which is why it works for flatpicking, crosspicking, and general strumming on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo.

Blue Chip machines each pick from a proprietary self-lubricating composite, then hand-bevels and laser-etches it. The material does not wear into a sharp edge the way nylon and celluloid do, and it does not need chalk or grip tape. The bevel lets the tip release the string with less drag, so attack stays clear, pick noise stays low, and the note comes out fuller than a plastic pick of the same thickness.

Specs

Shape: TD teardrop (351-style)

Thickness: 1.00 mm (0.040 in)

Material: proprietary self-lubricating composite

Finish: machined, hand-beveled, laser-etched

Bevel: right hand

Made in the USA
